The Pit
Deep cenote dive
A deep, cathedral-like cenote in the Dos Ojos system with a sulphide cloud and a forest of stalactites — a bucket-list deep dive for advanced divers.

About this site
The Pit is one of the deepest and most dramatic cenotes in the Dos Ojos system, and a genuine bucket-list dive. Divers descend to around 30 to 40 metres, where a hydrogen sulphide cloud hangs in the water and an enormous forest of stalactites and columns stretches out below. On the way back up, a shaft of sunlight often cuts through the middle of the cenote. Depth and the cavern environment make this an advanced dive with an appropriate certification.
