Experience Programs
Try diving with no commitment, or take your first certified steps into open water.

Try Scuba
Your first breath underwater
The best way to try scuba diving for the first time. In confined water and always under your instructor's direct care, you'll take those first unforgettable breaths underwater and find out what diving really feels like — no certification required.

Basic Diver
Try open water diving with a professional
Learn the skills and knowledge you need to dive up to 12 meters with an SSI Professional. A short, complete introduction that takes you from confined water into open water — and the whole program counts toward Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver if you continue within 6 months.

Scuba Diver
Your first scuba certification
A certified entry-level rating that lets you dive in open water up to 12 meters with an SSI Professional. It covers almost half of the Open Water Diver course, so you can upgrade easily by completing the remaining academics, confined water sessions, and two more open water dives.
Recreational
Your first certification, then the specialty courses that make you a better diver.

Open Water Diver
Your gateway to the underwater world
The world's most recognized entry-level scuba certification. Learn the foundational skills to dive safely and confidently to 18 meters with a buddy — for life.

Perfect Buoyancy
Master your buoyancy and dive effortlessly
Buoyancy is the skill that separates good divers from great ones. This specialty teaches advanced techniques so you hover with ease, protect the reef, and squeeze more bottom time from every tank.

Night & Limited Visibility
Explore the ocean after dark
The reef transforms after sunset. Learn to dive confidently at night and in low-visibility conditions, where specialized equipment and techniques reveal a hidden world of nocturnal marine life.

Science of Diving
The physics and physiology behind every dive
A comprehensive theory-only program that explores diving physics, physiology, decompression theory, equipment, and the aquatic environment. Essential knowledge that deepens your understanding and is required for most SSI professional levels.

Navigation
Dive smarter with compass and natural navigation
Always know where you are. This specialty gives you the advanced skills to navigate underwater with confidence — using a compass, natural features, and proven patterns to leave and return to your starting point.

Computer Diving
Let your dive computer plan the dive
A dive computer is the most important piece of equipment you own. This specialty teaches you to use it properly — planning dives, reading no-decompression limits, managing safety stops and surface intervals, and knowing exactly what to do if it fails.

Enriched Air Nitrox
Dive longer and safer
The most popular specialty in diving. Learn to use oxygen-enriched gas mixes up to 40% to extend your bottom time, shorten surface intervals, and add a margin of safety — recognized at dive centers and liveaboards worldwide.

Marine Ecology
Become an underwater naturalist
Understand the living ocean. This program introduces the science of marine ecology — the relationships between organisms and their environment — so every dive becomes richer and more meaningful.
Professional
Turn your passion into a career guiding and teaching divers.

Dive Guide
The first step into a dive career
Your entry into the professional ranks. As a certified Dive Guide you can lead certified divers on recreational dives, conduct site briefings, and assist instructors — the foundation of every dive professional's career.

Divemaster
Lead, assist, and inspire
A respected professional rating that builds on Dive Guide. Divemasters take on greater responsibility — leading divers, assisting instructors, and acting as a role model — backed by deeper science and more logged experience.
Extended Range instruction — in progress
We're certified Extended Range Full Cave and Technical Extended Range divers, and we're working toward instructor certifications to teach these advanced technical programs.
Extended Range Sidemount Diving
Technical sidemount configuration for extended range diving — redundancy, flexibility, and gas management for demanding profiles.
Extended Range Nitrox Diving
Go beyond recreational limits with extended range nitrox — staged decompression diving using enriched gas mixes.
