Cenote Angelita
Deep cenote dive
A deep sinkhole famous for its hydrogen sulphide cloud — a ghostly 'underwater river' of mist with bare tree trunks rising through it. Advanced divers only.

About this site
Cenote Angelita — “Little Angel” — is one of the most surreal dives on earth. Below about 30 metres a dense cloud of hydrogen sulphide forms a misty layer that looks exactly like an underwater river, with bare tree trunks and branches emerging from the fog. Divers descend through clear freshwater to reach it, then float above the cloud in near silence. The depth makes this an advanced dive, best done with a deep or cavern-certified guide.
