Crash Boat

Shore & boat dive · Artificial reef

The remains of the old pier pilings now form an artificial reef encrusted with coral and sponges, drawing in huge schools of fish, angelfish, snappers and the occasional sea turtle. Shallow and calm — ideal for training dives and relaxed guided dives.

About this site

Crash Boat is our home site and the one we dive most often. The collapsed pilings of the old pier have become a thriving artificial reef, covered in hard and soft corals, sponges and hydroids that shelter an enormous amount of life. Because it is shallow, sheltered and easy to navigate, it works beautifully for everything from your first Open Water training dives to a relaxed guided dive where the marine life does the talking. It is also a favourite for night dives, when the reef comes alive with octopus, lobster and hunting morays.

Marine life spotted here

  • Green sea turtles
  • Angelfish & snappers
  • Sergeant majors
  • Parrotfish & wrasses
  • Octopus (night dives)
  • Nurse sharks (occasional)
